Malaysian students capture Samarkand’s landmarks in a “storytelling” format

The group of 18 photographers and designers from the Faculty of Art, Design and Media is creating photo and video content in a “storytelling” format, highlighting the city’s rich history, traditions and culture.
During their visit, the guests filmed at Samarkand’s historic landmarks, including Registan Square, the Mausoleum of Amir Timur, the Bibi-Khanum Mosque, the Shah-i-Zinda Memorial Complex and the Ulugh Beg Observatory. The group also visited places reflecting the city’s everyday life and traditions, such as Siab Bazaar and the Konigil tourist village, known for its traditional crafts and picturesque natural landscapes.
The materials produced will be shared on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube, helping promote the cultural heritage of ancient Samarkand, located at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road, to international audiences through modern media formats.
