Progress of transport infrastructure projects reviewed

The project for the construction of a new modern highway along the Tashkent–Samarkand route was examined. According to the plan, the total length of the road will be 282 kilometers. Soil stabilization work will be carried out on sections totaling 140 kilometers. The project includes the construction of 12 interchanges, 91 bridges, and 16 overpasses.

The road, which is planned to be completed within five years, will be classified as a Category Ia highway, complying with the highest technical and safety standards. It will feature six lanes with cement-concrete pavement, each 3.75 meters wide. The design speed will be 150 kilometers per hour.

A project for the construction of a 171-kilometer alternative highway along the Tashkent–Angren–Kamchik Pass route will also be implemented. The plans include the construction of 33 kilometers of tunnels and several major engineering structures.

The Head of state was briefed on the financing mechanisms being developed and on the progress of negotiations to attract foreign investors.

It was emphasized that the design of highways should incorporate modern transport engineering solutions, the introduction of intelligent management and monitoring systems, and enhanced measures to ensure road safety.

The presentation also included information on the progress of projects to construct the Tashkent–Charvak and Urgench–Khiva roads.

Alongside this, the main parameters of the project to construct a new international airport in Tashkent were reviewed. In the first phase, it is planned to build a passenger terminal with an area of 208.4 thousand square meters and two runways, each four kilometers long. The project envisages the creation of infrastructure capable of serving up to 20 million passengers per year, handling 30 takeoffs and landings per hour, and providing parking for 169 aircraft.

A report was presented on the design and survey work being carried out at the future airport site, as well as on the next stages of the project’s implementation.

The President instructed the responsible officials to ensure a thorough technical and economic assessment of the projects, to organize construction work in accordance with modern standards, and to ensure the long-term and stable operation of the transport infrastructure.
